At Kidurong International School (KIS) we offer primary education for children aged 3 to 12 years.  The school was established by Shell in 1982 within the grounds of the Kidurong Club (KKB), Bintulu.  We cater for the children of Shell expatriates, as well as children of other expatriates and local children (up to the age of 7).  The school has three internationally trained teachers and two local Learning Support Assistants.

KIS is a learning focused school which is managed and accredited by Fieldwork Education Services and Shell Education Services.

At KIS we base the behaviour expectations of everyone in the school on three rights:
  • the right to learn
  • the right to be safe
  • the right to be treated with respect

Our aim at KIS is to help children realise their full potential, both academically and personally, so that they are equipped to be successful in an ever-changing, culturally diverse, world community.  We will do this in a safe, respectful and encouraging learning environment.

At KIS the children learn with 2 curricula, the English National Curriculum (ENC) for Literacy and Numeracy www.education.gov.uk/schools/teachingandlearning/curriculum/primary and the International Primary Curriculum (IPC) www.greatlearning.com/ipc for all other subjects.

Through the IPC Personal and International learning Goals we value and promote personal learning and the development of international mindedness.

At KIS we offer:
·        High quality international education
·        Small class sizes which allow for personalised attention to individual needs
·        Stimulating learning environments in spacious air-conditioned classrooms
·        A well-equipped computer suite and computers in the classrooms
·        A school library
·
